About Hilary Menzies
Florist, gardener, healer

I am Hilary and I have lived here in Leaston House since 1980. The garden and the landscape have gently woven their magic over me and have been my anchor, my inspiration and my challenge for all those years.
I offer floristry & flowers, healing and garden experience workshops here at Leaston. I have been growing flowers since we arrived here in 1980, but became a flower farmer and member of Flowers from the Farm in 2018. I am also a qualified healing practitioner registered with The Healing Trust. I love bringing people closer to nature through individual and group experiences in this magical garden. But if you just want some flowers I am here for that too!
I want to help others find ways of reconnecting with nature, to begin an adventure towards communicating with the natural energies of this beautiful planet and rediscover the peace and joy of living amongst them in harmony. Whether you do this with floristry or with healing experiences, I would love to be your guide.
My philosophy
The garden and the natural environment have taught me that I am a small part of a vast community. That what I do can be helpful and can change the way things look and behave but actually the other energies and influences and intelligences of the garden do most of the work. Listening to those other energies has been a fundamental part of my learning. And it isn’t just listening to the birdsong, and feeling the direction of the wind and the changes in its mood, it is listening in a more subtle and gentle way to how plants are feeling – whether they are happy with my help or whether I am missing something.
It is my belief is that we have lost a lot of our connection with all the other energies and intelligences with whom we share our planet. As humans we have begun to feel that we are totally in control and that science has an answer to everything – and we have made quite a mess of the world we live in. I don’t think it is too late to reconnect, to begin again to live in harmony with our world instead of fighting it.
